Shamat says, "All I know is that if you want immortality, you must follow the Sun God. But hurry for it is sunset."

He follows the Sun God and on his way beasts attack him. He hears a cry for help. He hurries over to find a lion cub hanging from a cliff nearby. He rescues it when all of a sudden, two vicious looking scorpions come up and say, "We are the guards of the Sun God. You may not pass!"
Gilgamesh yells at the scorpions for being so mean. Then, they let him threw for his courage.
Gilgamesh has to pass through a dark tunnel full of monsters. With the lion cube holding onto him, he finally comes to a beautiful place. It has trees and all animals. They are friendly. It was the sun Gods garden.
Gilgamesh found the sun God and said "Greatest sun God, how do i become immortal ?"
The sun God answers, " I do not know, but i do know is that Utnaplishtim is the only human who became immortal. To get to him you must go west."
The sun God answers, " I do not know, but i do know is that Utnaplishtim is the only human who became immortal. To get to him you must go west."
Gilgamesh travels west and ends up in a desert. After walking a long time in the scorching hot desert, the lion cub faints. Gilgamesh picks him up and goes on. Finally, after suffering from the heat, Gilgamesh, sees a house covered in vines. He walks over to find a women outside, looking horrified for how shriveled Gilgamesh was.
He said "I'm looking for Utnapishtim. Do you know were he lives?"
He said "I'm looking for Utnapishtim. Do you know were he lives?"
"Yes, but that is a suicidal journey. Stay here with me and drink wine and be happy!" said the woman.
" What is your name, for mine is Gilgamesh."
"My name is Siduri, and I make wine for the gods."
"Siduri, you must tell me how to get to Utnapishtim!"
" You must cross the sea of Death that guards his island. Only my boat can go across it," Siduri answered.
"Give me your boat so that I may go to him." Gilgamesh asks.
Siduri says, "Yes."
Siduri says, "Yes."
Gilgamesh made 120 poles to cross the sea of Death. After he was done he set out in to the sea of death. Every time he put a pole in the water it started dissolving. Gilgamesh kept putting them in the water until all the poles were gone. Then he took off his shirt and stood up to make a sail. It worked.
Utnapishtim saw him sail up to his island in amazement.
Gilgamesh walked up the little mountain and up to Utnapishtim. he said, "Utnapishtim, How did you become immortal? You are no different than I, so how did you do it?"
Utnapistim said, "The only way for you to become immortal is you must stay awake for seven days and six nights while I tell my story!"
Gilgamesh says, "I will."
So Utnapishtim began his long story and, at the end, Gilgamesh was asleep. He begged to try again. Utnapishtim took mercy and told him to look out at the sea. "Do you see that glowing light? That will not make you immortal but will keep you young until you die."
Gilgamesh set out again on the boat. Went to where Utnapishtim told him to, dove down, pulled up the flower, and started home.
He stopped on an island to sleep. Ishtar, an evil serpent, came down out of a nearby tree and ate the flower whole. Gilgamesh heard her, he jumped up and said, "Ishtar, you evil one, you killed my friends and now you've killed hope!"
Then Enkidu came, as a griffin, and said "Gilgamesh, Shamat sent me, so get on my back!"
Gilgamesh did so! Enkidu flew over Gilgamesh's city and said," Here is the immortality you have sought. the great things you have done will be remembered long after you have died!"
